Here are some suggestions if you would like to sell or rent your home.

 

Selling your House

If you are selling your house, the biggest suggestion is to make sure that everyone who is interested has a chance to see your house and make an offer. Sometimes, folks try to buy a house before others find out it will be coming up for sale. This can cause many problems from getting a lower price, to resentment against the new owners, to people knocking on your door before you are ready. The best way we have found to handle this is to have an open house where everyone can see the house and make an offer. Then look through your offers to decide who you feel would be best for you and for Nyland.

So here are some steps that have worked well in the past.

1. Set a date to have an open house.

2. Work with Tech CAG to post a description and photos of your house on Nyland’s external website.

3. Have Tech CAG send an email to everyone on Nyland’s ‘Want to Buy’ mass email list letting them know about the open house.

4. Invite a few Nylanders to help you with the open house. They can answer community related questions and help you get a better feel for how well someone will fit in at Nyland.

5. Give people a week after the open house to submit their offers.

6. Look over your offers and decide who you would like to sell your house to.

 

​Renting your House

Renting your house is pretty easy as we maintain a list of folks wanting to rent or buy at Nyland. Here are some steps that have worked well in the past.

   1. Work with Tech CAG to post a description and photos of your rental on Nyland’s external website.

   2. Have Tech CAG send an email to everyone on Nyland’s ‘Want to Rent’ mass email list letting them know about your rental.

   3. If you do not find a renter quickly, you might want to advertise on Craigslist. If you do this, it is requested that you mention that Nyland is a cohousing and include a link to Nyland's website. This way potential renters will have the opportunity to learn more about Nyland and our expectations before making the decision to move in.

 

Nyland maintains two lists each of interested buyers and renters. If you like, you can read a description about some (but not all) who might respond to your ad by clicking the links below.  As explained in the paragraphs above, by asking Tech CAG to send out a link to your ad to either of the mass email lists, potential buyers or renters will be notified and directed to visit our external site where your property description with photos will be displayed.

Want To Buy mass email list:  This is the list Tech CAG uses to send out notifications to all who have ever expressed an interest in buying.  This list contains many more individuals (names and email only) than are listed on the G-Doc above.  Asking Tech CAG to notify via this list will insure maximum exposure for your ad.
