Past Rentals

This is a record of past rentals at Nyland since 2004. The purpose of this page is to give future renters an idea of the type of rental opportunities at Nyland.

6/1/2011 1056 square feet plus 500 square foot crawlspace for storage.

Enter through a large 16 foot front porch facing the pedway with a gorgeous view of the front range of the Rockies.  Just inside is an open kitchen with an island including gas range facing your guests so that you can cook while entertaining, with brand new counter tops and a breakfast bar. The kitchen also has large windows facing the pedway.

Just inside the door is a tiled entry with coat hooks and seating for boot removal.  Look out a large window to the west with great mountain views and aspens and columbine.  There is a decorated half bath just off the dining room and a large coat closet under the stairs. The closet also provides entry to the crawlspace with storage.

Beyond the kitchen is open dining and living area with new wood floors. A large raised hearth in the living room has tiled seating area and a hand crafted oak fireplace surround and mantel.  The east and south facing living room has four large windows for sunlight and a windowed back door entering the large back deck, perfect for three season dining. The back yard is fenced for privacy and is canopied by a huge apple tree.  Iris, tulips and daffodils bloom in the spring and raspberries flourish all summer. Beyond the tree is an aspen grove with wildflowers and acres and acres of open space with hiking trails.

On the second floor you will find vaulted ceilings throughout including a skylight in the bathroom.  The huge front master bedroom has a ceiling fan and amazing mountain views to the west and north and a large custom clothes closet.  There is a full laundry in the bathroom for convenience, hidden by louvered doors.  

The open study with ceiling fan at the rear makes a perfect office or sitting/guest room/nursery and can easily be converted to a second bedroom. Large windows face the apple tree and open space to the south and east.

Covered parking and locked storage included.

Nyland features many community amenities including common meals, a large common house with guest rooms, kid's play room, exercise room, and meeting rooms.  There is a wood shop, greenhouse, sand volleyball court, basketball court, playing field, and pedestrian walkways.  Nyland is surrounded by open space on three sides, with extensive hiking trails.  An annual Eco Pass with RTD is included.  Nyland is an intentional community wherein members are expected to participate fully.  See www.nylandcohousing.org and read the section entitled “Joining Our Community” to see what the agreements are for community members.

5/1/2009 3542 - Cozy and cute, this apartment is perfect for one person who wants their own private space within our wonderful Nyland Cohousing community.  Daylight basement unit with full kitchen and bath, walk-in closet, and washer/dryer access.  We are asking $725 per month including utilities. One year lease, definitely no smoking, references required.  We are looking for a quiet, clean, tidy, kind, conscientious, community-minded person who is generous of spirit – and who doesn’t mind living below 2 adults and one ten-year-old child. 
12/16/2008 - 3547 - Lovely 2-story unit available December 15th. One of the few rental apartments that isn’t a basement!  Southern exposure in front and mountain views in back.  Decks, built-in cherry shelving, gorgeous woodwork throughout, and all the advantages of living in community: shared resources like the Common House and woodshop, open space all around, and wonderful neighbors!  The apartment has an open living room/kitchen area downstairs, and upstairs is a bedroom (w/a view of Long’s Peak), bathroom, hall with built-ins, and a lovely south-facing sitting area (or office) drenched in sunlight.  We are asking $900 per month for this wonderful space, plus a portion of household utilities.  The kitchen is smallish and there isn’t a whole lot of storage space, but the place is thoroughly charming.  We are seeking a quiet, responsible, and extra clean tenant – non-smoking, too, of course.

1/1/08 - 3543 - Cute two bedroom apartment with walk out basement and small kitchen. Share laundry facilities with upstairs neighbors. $650 per month plus a $650 deposit.

11/1/07 - 3587 - Bright,  walk-out basement apartment for long term rental. 

Three rooms plus one bath  with plenty of closet space. I am interested in finding a community minded person to rent this space.  I would welcome a single mature person  who likes to work in the garden and is willing to participate in the sustainement of our community. You will be sharing the house with only one other person.  In addition you will have the use of the community garden, workshop, greenhouse and, of course, the Community House. Adjacent to open space and trails, near bicycle paths and on the bus line. You will have a parking place in the two car garage. The rent is $735/mo plus 1/3 of the utilities. Sorry, no pets.

I am interested in finding a community minded person to rent this space.   I would welcome a single mature person  who likes to work in the garden and is willing to participate in the sustainment of our community.  Cats are not an option since I am allergic to them.  You will be sharing the house with only one other person who travels extensively for a living.  In addition you will have the use of the community garden, workshop, greenhouse and, of course, the Community House. You can participate in weekly yoga classes, the work-out room and the community meals for a nominal charge. This detached, single-family house is fully furnished, with great views of the Flatirons and the Continental Divide. Large master bedroom suite, sunny kitchen, beautiful garden and deck. A wonderful opportunity to try Cohousing on for size, while the owner pursues a fellowship opportunity abroad. Exact starting and completion dates of the rental can be negotiated (a little). I hope to find a mutually-acceptable rent and am willing to discuss terms, but I anticipate asking around $1,600 per month for the 2,000+ square foot house, which includes the Nyland dues (homeowner association fees) but not utilities.
